Therefore, one of the approaches that can be taken is to introduce elements of leadership as early as the teacher preparatory stage. This study aims to find out the level of effectiveness of pre-service teacher leadership practices of the Malaysian Institute of Teacher Education (Institut Pendidikan Guru Malaysia) in the Central zone. Specifically, this study aims to identify the level of effectiveness of IPGM trainee teacher leadership practices based on the domain of striving for futuristic leadership, setting the direction, enriching data, appreciating diversity, respecting stakeholder consensus, and practicing a collaborative & collective culture. This study applied a quantitative method that uses a survey approach. Data was collected using an online questionnaire on 309 pre-service teachers at four Malaysian Teacher Education Institutes in the Central Zone. Data were analyzed using Statistical Program Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) version 26.0 software, which uses descriptive statistical methods such as mean and standard deviation. The results of the study show that the level of effectiveness of the leadership practices of IPGM trainee teachers in the middle zone is generally at a moderate level (Mean=3.48, SP=0.70). The implication of this study is that education stakeholders realize that the leadership of pre-service teachers needs to be emphasized and improved continuously. Policy makers should devise targeted interventions and support mechanisms aimed at fostering a culture of leadership at the early stages of teacher education.
Amirul Fahmie Abdul Razak Muhammad Faizal A. The duties of educational leaders are very challenging as public expectations towards educational institutions have increased tremendously. To ensure that the headmasters and principals are more competitive, middle leaders must be competent enough to complement the efforts to realize the school’s vision and mission. Therefore, the purpose of this research was to obtain an initial understanding of middle leadership complexity in Malaysia. The study applies the Fuzzy Delphi Method (FDM) to gauge expert agreement on the relevance of the middle leadership dimensions, i.e., management, communication, emotional intelligence, supervision, leading professional learning communities, strategic, change leadership, and digital literacy. An instrument comprised of 90 items across eight dimensions was submitted to a panel of 20 experts from various fields and backgrounds to secure consensus regarding the pertinence of the dimensions. The analysis indicates that all items have met the FDM threshold (d) < 0.2, α-cut value > 0.5, and expert agreement > 75%. The defuzzification process was implemented to rank the dimensions according to the rankings agreed upon by the experts and improve the instrument. The study successfully verified the relevant middle leadership dimensions that were pertinent to the contemporary era based on FDM.
Teh Kim Peng Azyanzuhaila Hasan Basri Kalidass A/L Machappan Copyright (c) 2024 2024-05-10 2024-05-10 11 2 52 62 AMALAN KEPIMPINAN TRANSFORMASIONAL GURU BESAR DAN HUBUNGANNYA DENGAN MOTIVASI GURU DI SEKOLAH KEBANGSAAN DAERAH BANGSAR, KUALA LUMPUR http://borneojournal.um.edu.my/index.php/JUPIDI/article/view/52060
Head teachers as school leaders are the main factor in influencing teachers in schools to increase motivation among teachers.
